Congratulations to incoming PhD student Brandy Velten on being awarded one of a handful of prestigious Ontario Trilliam Fellowships! Brandy will be joining the lab in fall 2012.

Congratulations to lab member Amina Allalou on being awarded a prestigious NSERC USRA fellowship! Amina will undertake her project in the Welch lab this coming summer.

Dr. Welch was awarded a National Geographic Society Committee for Research and Exploration grant! This funding will help the Welch lab expand an ongoing project at the Koffler Scientific Reserve at Joker’s Hill.

Congratulations to lab members Amina Allalou and Prateek Sehgal for begin named to the UTSC Honours List. Amina and Prateek will be honoured at the Academic Awards Night, Nov. 22 at 7 PM in the Meeting Place.

Dr. Welch will be presenting a talk titled, “Exploring animal energetics at the extremes” as part of the New Frontiers Seminar Series at UT Scarborough (Room AA160) from 12-1PM.

Dr. Welch will be giving a talk to the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of Guelph.

New lab publication: “The power of feeder-mask respirometry as a method for examining hummingbird energetics” in Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology – Part A: Molecular and Integrative Physiology.
